best new artist alert. florence welch is a more likable and talented lilly allen. lilly allen is florence welch lite...florence welch, the female lead of the soul inspired british indie group florence and the machine has superstar quality. at times she reminds me of stevie nicks of fleetwood mac (in her song 'dog days are over' for instance) and others i feel more of a meg white vibe (in 'kiss with a fist' - my favorite track of hers). she's almost 23, and her debut album lungs was released in the u.k. and has spent five weeks at number two, behind some guy named michael jackson who was selling records despite not releasing a hit song for at least a decade and alegedly touching little boys. weird.
her album is filled with estrogen-fueled anthems mainly revlolving around matters of the heart - 'you smashed a plate over my head, and i set fire to our bed.' it drops october 10 in the sates, but is currently available for download. lucky you. get it. it is not only worth owning as it is sure to be one of the best albums of the year, but as i said - chick has star power. she's blowing up without a doubt. get on the f+tm band wagon now.
